Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in Holland and around the world.  Courts are opening overall in the country.  Amsterdam is no exception.  Padel in Amsterdam is growing non-stop.

History of Padel in Amsterdam

What is the history of Padel in Amsterdam?  The first padel court in Amsterdam was a temporary facility located on the side of Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium.  It was a project initiated by the Padel Club Group, led Erik de Wit. Thou the courts appeared to be installed for a limited time –pop-up facilities- on a public space, they remained in use for a longer period of time than expected.  Eventually the courts were removed and re-installed at a close by location: Olympiaplein. Since then, the number of clubs Padel clubs available in Amsterdam grew exponentially.

Locations

Padel Club Olympiaplein

Padel Club Olympiaplein is located in the heart of Amsterdam, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It features three panoramic padel courts and a small kiosk where you can buy your basic padel stuff, including rackets, padel balls and drinks. For a shower and warm meal you can walk to a nearby clubhouse.

The club offers padel clinics, lessons, tournaments, a league as well as social and company events. The courts are open daily.  Pre-reservations are strongly suggested.

Other facilities available on location are a skateboard park, five-a-side football fields and regular field football.  Padel Club Olympiaplein is located at Olympiaplein 31, Amsterdam.

Amstelpark Padel Amsterdam

Founded in 1986, Amstelpark is one of the national leaders in the Dutch tennis scene. Amstelpark Padel The facilities are located at the edge of the beautiful Amsterdamse Bos forest.  It includes nearly thirty tennis courts, both outdoor clay and indoor hard, as well as 12 squash courts.  The Amstelpark Tennis Academy is one of the best in the country.  Current and former tennis pros sometimes walk around the park including Sabine Appelmans, Dennis van Scheppingen, Miriam Oremans, Stephanie Rottier, Martin Verkerk and current pros Thomas Schoorel and Igor Sijsling.

Since 2018 Amstelpark features three modern padel courts. Other facilities include a cozy and modern clubhouse, bar and a great outdoor terrace.  Amstelpark organizes internal competitions, company and private events and padel courses.

Padel Dam

Padel Dam is a Padel club located in the western suburbs of Amsterdam, at Sportpark de Padel AmsterdamEendracht.  The park is easily accessible through the A5 highway that connects Amsterdam with Schiphol Airport and the city of Haarlem.  Padel Dam is an initiative of Marc Kluft and partners. It has the ambition to become a flagship Padel club in the country.

The club was inaugurated in 2017.  It originally featured one court located on a temporary spot.  As the interest for the sport grew, the club expanded further with the construction of four Adidas padel courts, clubhouse and dressing room installed on the side of TennisClub Geuzenveld.

At Padel Dam padel is a Lifestyle.  They offer a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for everybody.  Beginners can easily get to know other players during their TOS events. For intermediate and advanced players, Padel Dam offers plenty of competition formats, such as club ranking, family days, company leagues and fun tournaments.  Additionally, for those interested in serious competitions, Padel Dam participates in the National Team competition organized by the Nederlandse Padelbond.  Furthermore, it often hosts national events, including the Dutch Padel Championships.  If you want to get better at Padel, you can also join Padel Dam’s trainings.

USC Padel & Tennis

USC is a sports center affiliated to the University of Amsterdam. Its goal is to provide a  wide sporting offering to students of the city of Amsterdam. Padel is one of the more than seventy five sports available.  Their courts were inaugurated in 2018.

Thou the center was originally thought for students or employees of the University of Amsterdam, it is open to all public.  The padel courts can be rented per hour or through special memberships, such us unlimited tennis + padel.  USC offers rackets and balls for rent..

The club is open daily for members from 8:00 to 24:00. If you would like to rent a padel court per hour -no membership-, you should reserve with anticipation at their front desk.  Their front desk has limited working hours.

Padel Club Sloterdijk

Padel Club Sloterdijk is a Padel Club in Amsterdam affiliated to the Padel Club group.  The club was inaugurated in 2018. It features five padel courts; four are covered by a high roof provided by the existing municipal train rails infrastructure that runs over the club.  They are illuminated by modern led spots.

After competitions, players can relax at a convenient lounge/bar and fulfill the important after match duties: beer and snacks. Padel Club Sloterdij is welcoming space for Padel beginners.

Courts can be rented per hour. Membership not required. The club is open daily from 7:30 till 11:00.   It is conveniently located close by Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station at Naritaweg 4b, 1043 DV, Amsterdam.

Padel Club Zuidas

Padel Club Zuidas in Amsterdam is one more of the locations affiliated to the Padel Club group.  The center is conveniently located in the heart of Amsterdam’s financial district.

Business man from all over the world play padel at Zuidas. Expensive suits mix up with Padel bags and sweatshirts here.  You can often see high level executives taking a break off their busy schedules to play padel.

The center implements a pay & play model. Thus no subscriptions or commitments needed here.  If you want to take padel seriously and learn more, they have good instructors available.

Padel at Zuidas features three blue colored padel courts and a snack bar. Thus, forget the douches here, but the location is great.  The courts are open daily from 7:00 to 23:00.

Padel at B.

B. is the newest location in Amsterdam.  B. is a creative workspace for innovation, education, and growth. They build a bridge between startups, creatives, and corporates and bring them together, setting up ways to connect with-, learn from- and grow.  With its 40.000 square meters and three buildings, B. Amsterdam is the biggest startup ecosystem in Europe.

Padel at B. is part of their B. Sports project. B. features one indoor padel court -the only indoor field in the city-. The facilities include a restaurant and showers.  The court can be reserved on per hour bases.
